Time changes everything.
Several years ago I was talking with a friend and she asked me if I would do commission work.
"No way!" I replied. I didn't want to be bogged down trying to create someone else's vision.
Time passed. Commissions started coming in and I took each one. Something magical happened! No one wanted me to create their vision, they simply wanted my vision.
The best part about commission work is the challenge! Sometimes the challenge is the stone a person provides and sometimes it's a challenge because I'm pushing my limits or design skills. Then there is the mechanical challenge.
"Can you make a zinnia in silver?" A client asked.
Without thinking I said yes.
This flower challenged my skills as a smith.
It was an absolute delight to see the sheet metal and wire become a Zinnia🌸
